The Queen Bee project (WIP)
This project was sparked by a simple idea- the idea of a Queen Bee as a character, and the costumes that would co-inside with that idea. I knew I wanted her to be colorful, powerful, and fashionable. I wanted each design to portray a different personality through her outfit, ranging from elegant and graceful to villainous and poised. The only set ideas were that the costume would not be limited in practicality due to the ability of flight, and that was it- the rest was up to my imagination. The costuming was largely imspired in the vein of Mugler’s fashion-forward costuming and super-hero stylings.
Revision Stage
After doing these two digital mockups following rounds of traditional sketches, I decided I was in love with the heavily structured, business chic bee Queen. I still wanted her to have a very comic-esque look and feel to her, as if she jumped out of the page of a novel. My main gripes with the first iteration were outlined and revised roughly, following more comprehensive passes. They can be seen below.
